Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: I am basing her Myth on the Russian Rusalka, a variation on the drowned maiden. Wikipedia Info. I’m going to give her black swan attributes, feathers & wings, but they will be dripping with water at all times and her teeth will be much shaper, more like that of water fowl
Role Reasoning: Despite the fact that Natasha is now a bona fide superhero, at her point in time, she’s burned all of her goodwill as an Avenger by taking on a Congressional Committee to talk about how HYDRA was able to set up S.H.I.E.L.D. as a front and take over a great portion of politics over the world and not giving up Steve Rogers to answer their stupid questions. Not only that, but she still feels a great amount of grief over the fact that she used Antonia Dreykov to make sure that she had the head of the Red Room Organization in Budapest and the girl died alongside her father. (As far as she knew.)
★ Personality ★

Option 2.
  • What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why? Clint Barton - Clint was her first partner and someone who helped her escape from the Red Room. After spending two days with nothing to do but talk to each other, they became friends and colleagues. After that, they were assigned to be partners in S.H.I.E.L.D. because they could work the dangerous missions without any other backup. Risking their lives for the same goal helped cement their friendship and made them closer. She’s the only person who knows that Clint is married and has children. She’s been made an honorary aunt to his kids, since she’ll never be able to have her own. He was the first person to really try to understand her after her defection and she honors that effort more than anyone understands.
Nick Fury - She understands and respects Nick’s goals as the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. He makes an effort to know her skill set and trust her with things that she can do that others might not and he and his team (Maria Hill, Phil Coulson and a few other agents) have a very good coworker bond.
Steve Rogers - Steve is the only other Avenger that has tried to get to know her for herself and not just as Black Widow. His open and earnest demeanor makes it easy for the normally self-sufficient Natasha to want to be his friend. She respects him for who he is and he extends her the same kind of courtesy to her in an effortless way that is hard to dislike.
Yelena, Melina & Alexei - Her fake family of Russian/Red Room spies in Ohio still hold a very big part of Natasha’s heart. She might not show it, but the experience of having a family, even for as short a time as they were together, makes her honor and respect the rest of the Avengers for the screwed up, dysfunctional family they are. And while it takes a lot for her to speak about it, she loves Yelena and their ‘parents’ a lot for who and what they are, even though she won’t admit they even exist at her canon point.

  • What are your characters dreams and nightmares? Do you believe they are more likely to obtain one rather than the other? Natasha still dreams about her real mother, even though she thought that she was abandoned in an alley and has no idea what her biological family looks like. It’s something that haunts her, thinking she was thrown out like trash and the only people who wanted her was the Red Room to make her into a living killing machine. She also still lets her time in Ohio from the age of eight to eleven follow her. It was a taste of a family, even though she knew it was fake. It was the semblance of something normal that she could touch for a brief, shining moment and she’s taken Melina’s advice to keep her heart with her everywhere. It’s why she’s still alive and herself after all this time. However, that also means that she suffers from nightmares a great deal of the time and she never talks about them.

  • What is your character's safespace? When do they feel the most settled and comfortable? When do they feel confident and relaxed? Natasha actually feels safe and settled when she’s in the middle of a mission. If she has a goal, a target, it allows her to focus and plot and plan. It gives her the chance to really prove to herself that she can do things to help others that doesn’t always end in death, but the people who die are generally trying to hurt others. It helps her sleep at night to think that, especially after Budapest. And working for S.H.I.E.L.D. helped ease the guilt over what she did while working for the Red Room because Nick Fury was someone she could respect and trust. Outside of missions, she’s actually most comfortable when she’s talking to her coworkers/friends in the Avengers because they understand her and don’t judge her past actions.

  • Which Taylor Swift era is your character going through right now and why? Natasha is always going through Taylor’s “Reputation” era. She’s got a lot of people she wants to see pay and she’s always trying to make up for past mistakes by throwing herself into everything she does. Also, she doesn’t really care what others think about her. So, she’s okay with going after those who need to be killed without losing any sleep. However, she’s well aware of what she’s done and so the people who want to be near her have proven they can be trusted and she would do anything for them: i.e. her relationship with Clint Barton is the closest she’s had as an adult with someone who might be considered a blood brother or her friendship with Steve Rogers.
